What is the Bhrigu Bindu?

The Bhrigu Bindu is a sensitive point, not a planet. It marks the exact midpoint between Rahu (the karmic node of the future) and the Moon (the mind). Because it blends the direction Rahu is pulling you toward with the emotional centre of the chart, it is read as a point of destiny: an area of life where events feel significant and self-defining.

It is named after the sage Bhrigu, associated with the predictive tradition. The point itself does not do much sitting quietly in the chart. Its value shows up in timing: when a major transiting planet crosses it, that stretch of time often lines up with a noticeable event such as marriage, a career shift, relocation, or another turning point.

Like any single technique, it works best as one input among several. Read the Bhrigu Bindu together with your Vimshottari dasha and the wider transit picture rather than treating a single contact as a forecast on its own.

How is it calculated?

Take the sidereal longitude of Rahu and of the Moon. Measure the arc going forward (in increasing longitude) from Rahu to the Moon, then add half of that arc back to Rahu's position. The result, reduced to the 0 to 360 degree circle, is the Bhrigu Bindu. Its sign, nakshatra and pada are read from that longitude in the usual way.

Two charts can show different Bhrigu Bindu positions for the same birth. The usual reasons are the direction of measurement (we always go forward from Rahu to the Moon), the ayanamsa (we use Lahiri), and whether the mean or true node is used for Rahu. Your point inherits whichever node your kundli is set to, and the convention panel above states the exact settings applied.

Key terms

Destiny point

Another name for the Bhrigu Bindu, reflecting its use as a marker of self-defining events rather than day-to-day matters.

Applying vs separating

A transiting planet is applying when it is still moving toward exact contact with the point, and separating once it has passed. The applying phase is when the effect is building.

Orb

The gap, in degrees, between a transiting planet and the point. We treat a slow mover within 3° as sitting on the Bhrigu Bindu.

Slow movers

Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu. They stay in a sign long enough for a contact with the point to define a meaningful period, which is why they are the ones watched here.

Indu Lagna

The wealth ascendant, counted from the Moon using the planetary kalas of the 9th lords. Used to judge where and when wealth gathers.

Sree Lagna

The prosperity point, derived from how far the Moon has moved through its nakshatra and projected from the ascendant.
