Krishnamurti Paddhati (K.P.) is a precise predictive system developed by Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti that combines Vedic astrology with Western house cusp calculations. It uses a unique Sub-Lord system where each Nakshatra is further divided based on Vimshottari Dasha proportions, enabling remarkably specific predictions.
K.P. astrology focuses on house cuspal sub-lords rather than sign placements. The sub-lord of a house cusp determines the primary outcomes for that life area. This system is renowned for its accuracy in timing events and answering specific yes/no questions.
How Does K.P. System Work?
K.P. divides each Nakshatra (13 degrees 20 minutes) into 9 sub-divisions proportional to the Vimshottari Dasha periods. Each sub-division is ruled by a planet called the Sub-Lord. A planet's Star-Lord and Sub-Lord together determine its significations more precisely than sign placement alone.
House cusps are calculated using the Placidus house system rather than whole-sign houses. The sub-lord of each cusp determines whether the house matters will manifest favorably or unfavorably. This cusp-based approach is why K.P. predictions can be extremely specific about timing and outcomes.
Key Concepts
Each Nakshatra is divided into 9 sub-portions. The sub-lord of a planet or cusp is the final determinant of results — it decides whether promised outcomes will actually materialize.
The sub-lord of each house cusp determines that house's outcomes. If the sub-lord signifies favorable houses, the matter prospers; if unfavorable, it faces obstacles.
In K.P., a planet signifies houses through occupation, lordship, star-lordship, and sub-lordship. The four-level significator chain provides unmatched specificity.
At the moment of judgment, specific planets rule the Ascendant sign, star, and sub. These Ruling Planets help verify and time predictions with great precision.
K.P. uses the Placidus house system for cusp calculations, differing from traditional Vedic whole-sign houses. This creates unequal house sizes that vary by latitude and time.

Historical Origins
K.P. was developed by Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti in the 1960s-70s in India. Drawing from both Vedic Nakshatra-based astrology and Western house division, he created a unique synthesis that addressed the need for more precise timing predictions. His six-volume KP Reader series remains the foundational reference for practitioners worldwide.
